The Department of Emergency Medicine is focused on providing diverse educational experience for our emergency medicine residents leading to board certification. Each resident will have ample opportunity to develop clinical skills through formal education and direct patient care with an emergency medicine team that cares for over 140,000 patients each year.
The hospital network has over 950 beds in operation and the educational experience is broadened by an aeromedical transport system that conducts flights for our regional Level I trauma center. Our trauma center is the busiest in the state. We also have our own pediatric emergency department. The residency program also gives residents the unique experience available at the George E. Moerkirk Emergency Medicine Institute which trains over 10,000 students annually and uses sophisticated teaching tools that include a human patient simulator.
As part of a teaching network that have a well organized clinical faculty, are one of the oldest teaching hospitals in the country and rank in the Top Five Academic Medical Centers in the country. We are committed to research and providing a diverse, enriching experience that residents need for a successful professional career in Emergency Medicine.
Sincerely,
